Should you just finish the rough draft first?

I can't count how many times I have rewritten my story and never finished it entirely. I've been told numerous times to just get the rough draft out and finish the whole story before I edit and try to make it better. But I'm not really sure that is sound advice anymore. What is everyone else's opinion or method on writing a story?

I think you should just try different ways until you get one that works best for you. But for me doing a draft never works well because my ideas are always developing and I end up making changes that require me to rewrite great portions or even nearly the whole story. So I just make an opening that works well and keep going until I decide it's good to stop.

It`s up to you. Earlier I didn`t habe any plan of the story. Recently I have decided to change it. I am working on the text I started writing about two years ago and my point of view has changed.
