Oh, C/2011 L4 (PANSTARRS) as you fly into the infinite void
One and a half times the distance of the Earth from the Sun
At some unimaginable velocity.

(37.3 kilometres per second actually)

Voyaging ever further away somewhere between Cepheus and Cassiopeia
Your refulgent coma streaming into space
At some unimaginable length.

(0.06 astronomical units actually)

I have ceased to care
As the weather has been so bad recently I will never see you.

You may always go visit the Martian rats that were discovered recently in a video.

I liked the writing style in your blog post, so I thought I'd come back and take a look at some more of your postings.

Re: not sure this is "poetry" per se, but definitely shows a curious and active intellect at work.
The statements are witty and ironic. By the bye, I sympathize. Everytime there is a celestial event--especially a "once-in-a-millennium" event-- touted to be "visible" above my neck o' the woods, a cloud cover almost always ruins it. Even Einstein had weather problems when he attempted to gather evidence for the first of his theories through an eclipse.
