Is it the blossoms
or the serene wings
that are shades
of shadow and red?
Do they perfume
the afternoon,
the wind that lingers,
the singer's breath?
Why can't it fly
above the rooftop,
into the dance of leaves,
beyond the tailless kite?
Should I hurt my eyes
to see the hint of hues,
the shape of smile,
the beauty in the dark?
