This story happens in the 1980s.in a country called Egyptia, There was a small town named Benha, where lived the family Smith. They were white people. The father Paul Smith 30 years old had a job as a worker in a small wool factory of the town. The factory name was ‘’COCAM’’. It was not too far from their house; approximately 20 min on foot and 5 min with a car. Even though the distance from the house to the factory was not long, Paul used to get there with is old white jaguar from the 1970s.Martha, his wife did not work. So she was a householder and took care of their two children. Their first son was James a 7 years old boy, 5 feet with black hair and brown eyes; he was neither thin, nor fat. He had Just a normal shape. He was smiley with everybody and had a great interest for people. He had this ability to remember the name of all the people that he encountered. One day, a friend of his dad came at home to pay a visit. He introduced his self to James and both became good friends. Two months later, when he came again, James saw him and grated him:
’’ Hi, Mr. Briand how are you doing today.’’
Briand and the family at home where surprised by the memory of James because he remembered that name. That was rather remarkable for a boy of this age. He had really grate ambitions. He wanted to study medicine in one of the greatest university of the world but unfortunately, he would never because his parents were not rich. But every day, before sleeping, he never forgets to pray to GOD:
’’ Holly Father you know how much I want to help people, give me the opportunity to have a good education and study in a great university to be an excellent doctor.’’
Each day this was his topic prayer. Their second child was John, a 4 years old girl. She was a little bit thin with long black hair. She was really beautiful with rounded eyes like Barbies dull. She was the kind of fearful girl, reluctant with people completely the opposite of her brother. Despite that she was smart as well. The smith was not a rich family; their children attended a public school for poor people.
Every Friday, the couple Paul and Martha used to go to the cinema to watch a movie as on Saturdays the factory was closed; therefore Paul was not working. James and his sister were left at home. Their house had two small bedrooms with one bath room, a living room and a kitchen. James had the responsibility to look after his sister, he was not afraid of staying alone in the house. It was the same routine every Friday. Then came this dreadful Friday night. The couple Smith went as usually to the cinema. On their way back home, there was a horrific storm. The sight was not clear, in a crossroad from the side of the driver, was coming a truck in a high speed, the traffic lights were not working. The two automobiles had entered in collision. The white jaguar had been crashed down by the truck. The parents of the two children died due to the shock. The truck driver was safe, so he tried to call the emergencies. Unfortunately they came too late. They could not do anything for them.
Around 10:05 AM the little boy James was not sleeping yet while John slept 1 hour ago. Normally, at this time their parents were already back. He started to worry when suddenly he heard a police siren and people knocking the door. Rushing toward the door, when he opened, he saw many police car and an emergency car, he understood nothing, and he was disrupted. Then he asked to the police:
’’ What is going wrong? Where are my parents?’’
They could not say anything they were speechless. James understood that something happened when he saw the emergency car. A policeman tried to explain him gently that his parents were called by Jesus Christ to heaven and they will not come back. James looked dismay. Clearly that was too much to handle for a 7 years old boy. Awake by the noises outside Camille came out but she understood nothing from what was going on. The entire neighborhood was around. When James saw John standing in the in front door, tears in the eyes, he hurried to hug his sister and he started to cheer her and kept repeating her that all was right. He took her hand and brought her in their parent’s bed room, and started to look on the pictures until they slept. The morning came James woke up and looked around and saw his sister sleeping nearby his side. He went out of the room and noticed the quietness of the house. It was not a dream it was real there was no parents around. Few minutes later, John wake up and started shouting mommy. Sadly the little boy explained to her sister that theirs parents had traveled and they were not coming back. Then she started to cry:
’’I want mommy back. I need my mommy, mommy, mommy come back I promise that I won’t be stubborn anymore.’’
James was powerless and cried in her sister’s harm.
After the burial day, they had to go in a religious orphanage as they did not have any relative who could take care of them. Their house and all the furniture were taken by the bank as their house was a non-paid mortgage. All their belongings were only the pictures of their parents. The orphanage where they had to go was in another city called Alexandria which was bigger than Benha . The children had to leave the past behind. And move forward for a new life. There was a lady called Sister Rosalie who was in charge to take the children to Alexandria. She was really kind with them; she had bought them some clothes, foods, sweeties during the journey which lasted 1 day by train. At their arrival at the religious orphanage, James took his sister’s hand, looked at the sky and said in his heart:
’’ Dad, mom you went, and you left us, I promise to protect and take care of John.’’
Tears in the eyes, interiorly, he said after:
’’ God, Holy Father what did we do wrong? We are merely innocents’ kids. What have we done my sister and I to deserve that? ‘’
Then John asked to James:
’’ Where are we James? What are we doing here?’’
He answered “we are in our new home sweetie all will be fine don t worry’’.
The orphanage was huge because it had a girl’s dormitory, a boy’s dormitory one building of class rooms, a big church and a huge cafeteria. It could shelter approximately 3000 orphans. Sister Rosalie had to take care of the new comers, so with the children smith, they visited the orphanage. Boys and girl could not sleep in the same place so every night John was separated from her brother. In the beginning it was too hard for both of them but James understood and explained to his sister. Every night during almost 1month she was crying asking for her brother. The mornings, after having a shower, all the children had to go to the church, after they had to take the breakfast and then go to class. During the week end they had to make some cleaning except the smaller. When nights came, James used to look at the pictures of his parents that he had in an album photo. With Is Bible, he prayed every night and repeated the same prayer that he used to say. He kept a deep faith in God despite all the shocking events that happen in his life.
The little boy had only done 4 months in the orphanage but was already able to call each person by his name. That is why people loved him so much. He had a particular interest for everyone, and that was amazing for a kid of that age. The word selfishness was unknown to him. One day, a sterile couple coming far away from Israelia, came in visit at the orphanage. They were asked to wait within the guest room; the time for the main director to come and welcome them. From there, they had assisted to an incredible scene. James’ room mate Danny had broken a window while both were playing. When a Sister came, she asked:
’’ Who had broken the window. ‘’
To protect his friends who would be punished, James confessed that he was the responsible. Therefore he was punished instead of Danny. John was crying and kept saying:
’’ Leave my brother he did not do anything. It is Danny who has broken the window, I saw him, I saw him please leave James he is innocent. James tells them that you did not break the window ’’
James replied : ‘’ Don’t worry John I will be fine.’’
The young couple was wordless and felt some compassion due to the action of James.
Finally, when the director came, they went in his office and explained what the purpose of their visit was:
’’ My wife and I are from israelia, I am the heir of my late father. We came in your country for holydays and also to make some gift to your orphanage. One year ago, we have lost our 2 children in a car accident .It was an uneasy period. But today we assisted to a scene that impelled us to adopt 2 of your children: The small boy who had been punished 5 min ago; and the little girl who was defending him. ‘’
Father Dario the director after having heard them gave his agreement for the adoption and congratulated them. He added that James and John were a good choice. Then he asked their name and they replied we are:
’’ Mr. and Mss. smith, but you can call me Paul and you can call my spouse Martha. ‘’
Father Dario was completely amazed and shocked, so he called James and his sister and explain them what was going to happen. Tears in the eyes but joy in the heart James went up to pack his things. Looking his parent’s picture he kneeled down and started praying the Lord:
’’ You never forget your children Holly Father; I always had faith in your power. Today your mystery is accomplished.’’
Then he opened a page in his Bible that said:
’’ WHEN THE WILL OF GOD MUST BE FULLFILLED, EVEN OBSTACLES BECOME BENEFITS. ‘’
Joy overwhelmed is heart then he went to help his sister to pack up.
Lastly, the two children were adopted by the smith; they traveled to israelia where they lived in a huge house with this immense heritage. The smiths were rich enough. James could have a good education and study medicine in the future wherever he wanted. His prayers had been exhausted.
’’ Hi, Mr. Briand how are you doing today.’’
