First book, a precious treasure to dig out for any aspiring Author. And, as always there will be many ideas buzzing in their minds and all of them are very exciting. In such a situation, how can the first time Author decide which of those ideas to be their first book/novel? It's like having lot of treasure chests in front and to be able to select only one at a time, so how does one decide which one??

Looking for any/many kinds of advices and experiences.

Thank you!

It is possible to use a combination, but to no avail. It's all based on circumstances and the treasures as you say. And what can anyone truly recommend that will benefit the so-called author? Maturity is a process that takes time. God be with everyone in their intentions and decisions. There might be no bad that comes for no good. Circumstances and storage rule.

Interesting. One does not usually decide their first books because their parents do or the society at the time and what is hot/fashionable if you like. We are far too young to decide and so it all depends on who your family is and what books are available at the time.
If you think of Dr Seuss books there is a whole same generation of children who were brought up on Dr Seuss and so it is not out of choice but it is what is available at the time.

I think krishna is wondering which of the many ideas he has for stories should become the first book he writes not reads.

No one can possibly answer that question for you. Take out a pen and paper and write what you feel you must write at the moment. It's possible to have two or three stories in progress at any one time, then the first you have completed to the best of your ability and satisfaction is of course the first you will attempt to get published.

Sometimes if you think too much about writing you end up writing nothing.

Just pick the story you like most. Whichever one expresses your talent most as a writer. Of course, that's assuming their on paper and not just ideas.

I'd think all those aspiring for a first novel would ask this at one point or another. There's the option to work on a couple if you have the time. Why publish one when you could go for two? I'm sure there's plenty of writers who weren't one hit wonders, or glorious from book one.

Good thread topic.

I'm asking about the books that one wishes to write. And, anyways your views on the first book to read is also true,.,, thanks :)

Hi Krishna sorry I misread the post. About what to chose and when I have to say it is entirely random and nothing to do with other books. I'd like to think I started very young and so no a particular book would have impacted on my first story or poem. I am more of a poet so I would say my very first poem I wrote had nothing to do with any other poems. :)
