What are some activities that you thoroughly enjoy doing?

And why do you like these activities so much? How do doing these affect you--physically, emotionally, intellectually, etc?

- Reading -especially old books because I like the paper’s musty odor.

- Sketching / drawing - because I like the smell of freshly sharpened pencil and seeing the graphite haze that collects on the palm.

- Watercolor – Especially when using Arches cotton papers because they smell like a wet dog when saturated.

- Woodwork - because I like the smell of fresh cut Maple, Mahogany, Oak, Douglass Fur, Bois de Arc, Pine, etc…. Also like the smell of varnishes, stains.

- Metal Work – because I like the smell of cutting oil smoke wafting up as the drill bit bores through steel and revealing the beauty of a shiny weld after the slag is chipped off.

- Hiking / running/ camping - especially in fall and winter because I enjoy taking in a deep breath of crisp fresh air, the scent of damp autumn leaves just after the frost melts or the hint of smoke from a distant hearth or campfire.

- Periodic tours through stamp and coin collection – because I like the smells of old stamps (see reading above) and tarnished silver.

- Shooting guns (relax don’t get your panties in a wad I’m just talking about targets, cans, pumpkins using old WW II weapons) – because I like the smell of gunpowder in the morning. Typically happens once a year during New Years celebration.

- Photography – because I enjoy capturing a nostalgic moment. Olfactory?....not much to offer except maybe the residual “new car smell” my digital camera body still emits.

- Drinking – especially Wild Turkey, ales and wine, because I like the way they make me feel and the aroma of bourbon is magical.

- Admiring WW II aircraft – because I like the smell of 100 octane and the sound of a radial or V 12 liquid cooled engine

- Perusing the Litnet forums - as time allows. No smells to speak of.

My favorite activities include:

1) Pouncing.

2) Imitating a chicken.

3) Doctoring food in the college dining hall (we once carefully scooped the ice cream out of an ice cream bar, inserted a sardine, replaced the chocolate coating and wrapper, and put it back in the freezer to be grabbed by an unsuspecting scholar). OK, I admit it. This was years ago.

4) Engaging in sex with a skilled professional (no matter how skilled an amateur, she cannot compete with the expertise and professionalism of a real pro).

5) Posting on the Literature Forum (OK, it can’t quite equal #4)
