like a book entitled the lansdowne poets by longfellow
it has a signature and handwritten intoruction dated 1sept 1878 but the book is dated as being printed october 1879

hard cover is blue with faded gold leaf back cover has a no 2 imprint

th edonor is a distant relative of longfellow and his gret gret something aunt was allowed to choos some items from his house when he died( so i ahve be tiold)
would be lovely if this was a rare edition

how do i tell
ahve looked on line and specialist charge which i am worried to do for what may be a not so valuable book

any ideas folks?

If you want undeniable authentication, you need to find someone who specializes in the field. The Internet can only help you so much - you need someone who can look at the physical object and test paper quality and type, typeset &. and match your copy against the standards of the time/place.
