Dance with me tonight
for tomorrow you'll be walking
farther, and farther
from my vision's reach.

Soon you'll be a shadow
in the blinding silhouette
of Mariposa's outline
and the memory of her
–a rapist of my heart–
will be relevant once more.

And in three years,
when you're left in Spring's wind,
a new lover will show,
and you will be remembered
when I dance before she walks.

Hi Revolte this piece is melancholic with a sad tone albeit very well expressed.
I enjoyed reading it for its expressive richeness.
I liked these lines

Soon you'll be a shadow
in the blinding silhouette
of Mariposa's outline

Mariposa caught my eye because I know it is a Spanish word. :)

Hey Cacian. Glad you enjoyed that.

I had no idea Mariposa was a spanish word. Or have I? Have we had this conversation before? O.o

I like this and the way you opened and closed your poem with the dance.

Hello Melanie!

And I'm glad you liked that. I have a thing for dance, it seems to explain so many different moods and settings and images and colour.
