The Future Shipwreck
One day Jimmy and Denise are taking a walk. Jimmy asks Denise if she ever watched Gilligan’s Island. He tells her that he used to watch it all the time when he was
a kid. After their walk Jimmy asks Denise to make a call to make a reservation on the boat called the Blue Vessel. Jimmy wants to see this particular boat because it has Army cannons and diverse replicas from the Vietnam War.
On a Tuesday when Jimmy doesn’t have any social commitments, Jimmy’s family and Denise go on an excursion. The boat is big enough to fit 50 people on it. When they arrive on deck they meet the Captain on the ship whose name is Peter. Peter tells them interesting facts about the structure of the boat as well as its employees. The Captain, who didn’t know the weather conditions, because he failed to watch the Weather Channel, was unaware that a fierce storm was on the horizon. The captain also did not follow his GPS and ended up in the Bermuda Triangle.
Not far from Bermuda Captain Peter suffers from a seizure, losing control causing the ship to collide into another passenger boat breaking it in half. The half Jimmy’s family and Denise are on drifts toward the Bermuda Triangle and the other half sinks to the bottom of the ocean. The passenger boat blows up. Alicia, Jimmy’s military sister, takes charge and tries to keep everyone calm. She takes control of the boat steering it towards an island that appears abandoned. To keep Denise calm, Alicia sends her and Jimmy to search for flares. They open up one of the cabinets in the ship and find the flares handing them off to Alicia. Alicia ignites them in the sky for a possible rescue. The flares have been unsuccessful after a full day of being left at sea. Since this was only a day trip food ran out, especially since Wyatt who is a growing boy consumed most of it! Alicia directs the passengers to start paddling the boat toward the island. They make it to the island. Alicia, Denise, and Wyatt venture out to explore the island for food. Wyatt using the skills he learned from being a Boy Scout finds berries that can be eaten. He brings Jimmy berries that taste like black caps. He also brings back very ripe tropical pineapples that taste like candy. The crew puts Jimmy on a water craft and they all go to the island. Wyatt borrows Captain Pete’s machete to chop down vines and branches. They retrieve canvas and wood from the broken ship and form lean-to huts for shelter. The walls are made of canvas and the floors are made from the wood. They put the Captain in one of the shelters to rest and recover from his seizure.
That night Wyatt creates a spear and goes hunting for food. He sharpens a rock that he hooks to a stick. While roaming through the woods of the island he hears the sound of an animal. He does not realize that a wild boar is right behind him and is about to knock him over. Alicia who was with Wyatt warns her son. The next day Denise digs a hole to trap the pig but gets upset because she is starting to lose all of her acrylic nails. Alicia reminds her if they don’t survive and get off the island she won’t have to worry about her fake nails. Denise agrees to continue to dig the hole because she is really hungry. She takes a break and looks in the cabinet of what is left of the ship and finds a can of beans. She cooks them on an open fire. Everyone enjoys the beans but are still very hungry. They hear the squeals of a pig and realize it is trapped in the hole. Jimmy protests because he doesn’t like to kill things but realizes he loves bacon. So he doesn’t watch as the pig is clunked in the head and prepared for dinner. They all enjoy the meal, even Jimmy. They make a special coconut spoon to feed the Captain who is still recovering.
On the second day stranded on the island, Denise decides to get a sun tan. The crew is getting fed up with her because she is refusing to help further so they pick her up and throw her in the ocean. Jimmy reminds everyone that they have to work together. Denise agrees and starts searching for fruit. She finds many fresh mangoes. Denise makes fresh fruit and coconut rum drinks for everyone and brings one to the Captain. Wyatt goes to join them. Captain Pete shows Wyatt the compass he has in his pocket. Wyatt then goes to the ocean and catches bass for dinner with the spear he made. The crew enjoys the meal.
The next day Wyatt is in the woods exploring and stumbles upon native islanders. They do not speak English, but by their expressions Wyatt can tell they are not happy. They capture Wyatt and bring him to a remote part of the island where they live and tie him to a hut. After Wyatt has been gone for hours his father Tex, becomes concerned and starts looking for him. He finds Wyatt tied to the hut. Tex, who has military training, shoots a round of ammunition in the air scaring off the natives. He then unties Wyatt rescuing him. Wyatt is so relieved to be back with his Dad. Just when Tex thinks the coast is clear, he is confronted by a huge islander who is about 6’3” tall who wants to take Wyatt. The islander makes a slashing throat gesture. He grabs Wyatt by the shirt. Tex intervenes and kicks him in the head with a specialized strategic move causing the islander to become unconscious. Tex grabs Wyatt and returns to the camp. He explains what happen and the crew realizes they need to get off the island immediately before they are all attacked.
It is now the third day and the Captain realizes he has a radio that he can use to get help. He sends out a message and they are rescued by the Coast Guard. The Captain was rewarded for saving the lives of the passengers. The passengers were offered a free 3 day cruise, but they refused to accept the gift. Instead they accepted a free vacation to Disneyland for a whole month!
