See the blots conform to lines
A string of long-sown memories
Some perch sins on a sinuous crutch
to mire their scorn in envy
The coward's creed is crude and loft
a dish of defeat in scalding scoff
when angels talk, their eyes are blue,
a rubicund rock for rot to rue,
the cloth of strife is stuck to rats,
Black sewers of elusive glory
The abode of woe, a clustered den,
A line to tell each story

In my mind's "ear," so to speak, I like the sound of these lines, the rhythm and the consonant sounds.
It's hard for my mind's "eye", though, to picture some of your images as they're somewhat abstract: "to mire their scorn in envy" and "a dish of defeat in scalding scoff." Why do angels' eyes turn blue when they talk? And I'm afraid I don't quite understand what
"a rubicund rock for rot to rue" means. The alliteration "rocks," though!
Hope you post some more of your writing and that you enjoy your time on the LitNet.

Hi there, AuntShecky! :)
Thanks for replying. Perhaps this will simplify the lines you have in question:
"to mire their scorn in envy" - The scorn or disdain of the people in question is 'mired' or dug in a swamp of their own jealousy. In other words, the reason the people in question are scornful is because they are jealous.
"Why do angel's eyes turn blue when they talk?" - This is a reference to one of my favorite folk songs by The Shins called 'Saint Simon'. In the mellifluous chorus, the words "Mercy's eyes are blue" are mentioned. Check the song out!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqYMRcnLU0o.
"A rubicund rock for rot to rue" - I agree with you 100% that this line is abstract and that it has very little meaning except for the me, the author. This line refers to a personal memento my grandmother gave me on her death bed. It was a carving comprised of porcelain of the Virgin Mary pregnant with baby Jesus. On her belly was a bright red rose, hence the "rubicund". "Rock" refers to the church or christ, the embodiment of jesus. "Rot" refers to the notion, according to the Bible, that we are all born into sin and therefore spiritually "rotting" until we seek redemption, which is where the "rue" part comes in. "Rue" is a sort of atonement, or to wish the reversal of adversity, or intrinsic iniquities.
Thanks again! :D
