I posted this over in the Introductions Department but nobody wanted to introduce themselves. Eighty views and counting, but no replies. It's kind of like Introductions is the foyer, but while everybody peeks in once in a while, this is were the party is.

So, here I am. Not much to look at, but I enjoy a fine bourbon now and again. I do like the punning possibilities of "the boards." My experience with discusson boards has been that a person tends to create a persona around his or her user name. We end up playing a part; treading the boards, so to speak.

I am lately of GiraffeBoards, which was a general public board of wits and half-wits. I finally got tired to trying to discuss something intelligently only to be shouted down by people with far too much emotional investment in the subject. So I went in search of a more intellectual group of folk who might still have a somewhat warped sense of humor. Hope there are some of you about.

Since you use avatars here, I'll use my favorite: Moe Howard.

Um ... anything to drink around here?

Welcome Foe.
Foyer is a good way to describe the introduction thread.
There may happen to be one or two standing in it with time enough to share a few words, otherwise the vast majority are passing through with only a parting glance.
Don't put too much stock in it, as you have deduced, it's best just to go ahead and head to the deep end of the pool.

As for drinks, I'd suggest you head over to the Cold Ale Blokes bar (thread)
I prefer Wild Turkey myself, but you'll find that we are well stocked.

Well stocked, eh? I'll have Breckenridge on the rocks.

Thanks. I think I'll go find some Joyceans to pick a fight with.

Hey, you guys! "Ulysses" is pretentious!

Oh, this could be fun.

Do you like box wine? I'm all out, but if I wasn't I'd share.

Depends. Black Box pino grigio, sure, gimme a glass. Franzia? I'd rather do Two Finger shots.

Hello foe. Friend or foe? Do you get your name from Daniel Defoe, the conceiver of Robinson Crusoe?

It is uncanny how that all rhymed, lol.

I'd admit most of the time it's Franzia. I grew a taste for cheap.

I also now hate Merlot. Not sure how or why that happened, any brand, I don't dig purple.

The name is the title of a book by J.M. Coetzee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._M._Coetzee). It's a re-imagining of Robinson Crusoe and the first book I read for graduate school. It's a mind-blower and I had to write two papers about it. It's one of my favorites.

Oops, this was in response to Adolescent -- somehow I didn't get the quote done.
