Hi!
My name is Tim, and I am new to the forum. My top four authors are: Hermann Hesse, Par Lagerkvist, John Steinbeck, and Carlos Castaneda.

I realize that Carlos Castaneda has been frowned down on by a portion of the literary world with some validity. His earlier books, especially, A Separate Reality, Journey to Ixtlan, and Tales of Power incorporated so many different known and also unique philosophies, that I personally, consider him to have been a great philosopher and author. Even the latter book, The Art of Dreaming, contains both the fantastic, abstract features of the exceptional story he had originated in the 1950’s, but also some philosophical ideas and applications attempting to explain our “life situation” here on planet earth.
I do so much enjoy extreme, but to some extent, applicable stories that involve man’s search for explanations. Robert Monroe’s, Far Journey and Ultimate Journey are both examples of such. If anyone has something they think would run along the lines I've describe, please feel free to mention a book or two.

Welcome in this community. Par Lagerkvist is also my favorite.
