Balthasar was a master of meaning, very much as his complement, Fracisco de Quevedo. Gongora was an idiot when it came to meanings, but he was the best master of poetical images. Thus he fooled many, such as the generation of 27'. But even Lorca, who was far more meaningful, was fooled by the poetical beauty of Gongora's imagination. Yet, for what will be lasting, Balthasar and Quevedo will be remembered for the Barroco in many meaningful ways, while Gongora will be remembered for his fascist, resentful positions.
