I've been wanting to read this book for awhile now and I think I'm ready to finally tackle it. The reviews I've heard from people make it seem a little intimidating but it should be worth the challenge. For those of you that have read this work, did you use a guide and if so, which one should I use? Thanks.

I'd recommend reading it without a guide the first time, and then revisting with a guide/annotations later to pick up the nuances. If you're really stuck the first time then read chapter summaries online.

If you cannot do it without a guide for Joyce, you don't need to do it. It is not the same as a scientific guide for, let's say, Euclidean geometry.
Forget those who piggyback on things of the spirit written by others. They are not going to help you see much light other than con-fusion and endless, ventured BS.
