My father taught his father’s craft to me
Who had been taught by his before
And like so often is for like, I am sure
That my forefathers taught their sons
As I will teach my son in time
Or so I thought
Until the day they came and said
Be sad no more
For we have made your job needless
And brought machines to equal ten men, or more
Alas said I what worths a man replaced by steel
They came and said we have progressed

I would change the grammar in L10. This made me think what fathers may have thought with the advent of the industrial revolution. It also reminded me of Men's Shed Australia where among other things men can pass their craft onto other men. How different is our today from yesterday?

That people who are similar in some way (ie related) are essentially the same. So a forefather is the same as a father.

Probably a blooper upon further analysis.

Starts out in a promising way, but the latter half of the piece deteriorates into polemical prose. Even so, the familial topic's a fruitful ore to mine, and sometimes you can come up with gold.
