Given that there has been some discussion of Beowulf on the forum recently, I thought I might just post this link up. The British Library recently decided to upload their digitised high-res scans of the Beowulf manuscript (a.k.a Cotton Vitellius A.xv) for free viewing on their website. Given that, prior to this, the only way to get access to these high-res images was to fork over several hundred quid to the BL in exchange for a DVD with them on, this is clearly a good thing! Finally good to know that one of the greatest literary treasures we possess is now available for our own slightly OCD-esque brand of ultra-high-intensity scrutiny!

It doesn't look like there are any line breaks in the manuscript or am I not seeing this correctly.

You're absolutely right - no line breaks. The whole thing is written as continuous prose. No punctuation either, for that matter - the things that look like fullstops actually just denote a contraction.
