Light of the World,
Shine through my soul,
Remove this darkness,
the blackening hole.
Be my Rock on the Earth,
which keeps my balance
as I stand up right,
withstanding the World's quicksand,
which swallows us whole
until we drown in the ground.
Please, oh please loving Light,
I need you through the furnace
and raging flame of life I must walk.
May I not become engulfed,
becoming fuel for that very thing which
I hate. No help me
as I battle the fire,
enduring until the end
when I am refined
like Gold.
Oh holy Light,
please one more plea,
that you keep my spirit pure,
more pure than even the sea.
Wash away my dirt,
Living Water,
the dirt and poison
that bitters my tongue
which steers my soul.
For in all this I ask,
because all this I know to be
that You are
My rock on
my unstable Earth.
My refiner in
my fiery path.
My cleanser in
my dirty sea.
My Light in my heart,
when it’s blind in the dark.
