As the Slumbering Woman Waited

Doors overlooking the garden sparkled and glittered,

Winds of change stirred up the fire,

Reflected in the diamond-shaped panes of stately French windows.

A dog and a cat fought over a scrap of meat,

Both young men and old spoke of the horrors of war,

An elderly stick-man flew a kite in the moonlight,

Dew drops infested the lawn like fireflies and…and lovers?

Lovers once separated by circumstance lay secure in each other’s arms,

Reasoning was simple.

Sleeping with your mate is the only remedy guaranteed to cure longing,

Once and for all.
