I have a great love for poetry in fixed forms: sonnet, villanelle, rondeau and all the rest. However, I can only find one modern anthology of such poems: "Rebel Angels: 25 Poets of the New Formalism", which was published in 1996. I don't really care about "new formalism" as a movement per se, but I do like "formal" poems. And I know lots of modern poets have written in fixed forms; some more than others.

Are there any other such anthologies, especially available as e-books (which "Rebel Angels" isn't; I wish it was.)

Thanks!

There is the Eratosphere site that might be helpful: http://www.ablemuse.com/erato/

Editors of online journals publishing formal poetry post there. I haven't been on the site in some years now, but it might be a place to start.

I don't care for "new formalism" either, although I usually only write in a fixed form.

Rebel Angels was the first book I thought of, actually. AFAIK, there are no pure anthologies of formal poetry, even though there are some intro books that combine information/history about the form and then a selection of examples of those forms. Some suggestions:

An Exaltation of Forms by Annie Finch
A Formal Feeling Comes by Annie Finch
The Making of a Poem: A Norton Anthology of Poetic Forms by Mark Strand & Eavan Boland
Rhyme and Reason: Modern Formalist Poetry by Harding McAlister (available on Google Books)

Eratosphere isn't bad if you just want to read through there, but I wouldn't recommend their forums.

Here's a list compiled by Rose Kelleher listing places where formal poetry may be found or submitted:
