In a few weeks I will be heading back out to the Appalachian Trail and would like to bring a copy of the Bhagavad Gita.

However, my current edition (the Eknath Easwaran translation) is kind of a brick.

Does anyone know of a good lightweight alternative?

The Swami Prabhavananda and Christopher Isherwood translation (http://www.amazon.com/Bhagavad-Gita-Song-God-Swami-Prabhavananda/dp/0451528441/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1360014742&sr=1-1&keywords=bhagavad+gita+Christopher+Isherwood) is pretty lean.

I like the Eknath Easwaran translation, although I don't know many of the translations. I probably just like him. You don't mean his 3 volume commentary and translation The Bhagavad Gita for Daily Living, do you? That would be a lot to carry. He does have a one volume translation without the commentary.

I have the 1-volume edition containing both commentary and translation, which I greatly enjoy. However, being a bit of a gram-weenie, I would prefer something a bit slimmer. Perhaps the Prabhavananda and Isherwood translation, as was mentioned above. Thanks for the recommendation, by the way, DrkShadow03
