An interview with Mona:

[QUOTE=mona amon]*Why are we doing this interview thing?*

Umm...

*So, how old are you?*
50

*What is the best birthday present you've ever received?*
Last birthday Hubby surprised me with a Kindle Fire - I think that's the best so far. Usually we don't give b'day gifts.

*If you had a personal theme song what would it be?*
I am a Rock by Simon and Garfunkel, or Mrs Robinson - Nah, neither of them suit me. ;)

*Are you male or female? *
Female (love these easy questions)

*If you could build an entire planet from scratch, what would it look, sound and smell like?*
It would have lots of green, and white sand, and blue water. Sound - tinkling brook. Smell - oranges, vanilla, nutmeg and baking bread.

*Would you like to join Maximilianus' Air Force?*
I'm going to be reckless (since I don't know what's Max's airforce) and say yes!

*If you owned the site, what would you change?*
I'd get rid of the stick to the topic rule, since it never seems to work.

*What was the inspiration for your LitNet username?*
A few years back Son used to watch this anime called Witch Hunter Robin and I liked this character called Amon (the sulky young man in my avatar). It's also an anagram of my name, so I used it when joining my first forum. Don't ask - seemed a good idea at the time. :D

*Which countries did you visit?*
Only the US - Atlanta, Evans, and a few other neighbouring places.

*Which languages do you speak?*
Tamil and English

*What is the last thing that you have done that you have been really proud of?*
Oh dear, I can't think of anything really special.

*If you could live somewhere different, where would it be and why?*
It would be some place which doesn't have so much corruption and red tape.

*Do you have any pets?*
Goldfish

*What makes you happy?*
A good book, sincere compliments, nice food - many things.

*What's your favourite song for singing in the shower?*
If I do sing in the shower which isn't often, it's a tamil movie song, or a hymn.

*Which actor should play you in a movie based on your life?*
Catherine Zeta Jones 'cause I like her looks.

*What's your signature dance move?*
Jumping up and down, LOL. That's all I can manage when forced to dance.

*How do you like your coffee? *
Hot, a little strong, with milk and a wee bit of sugar, and only one cup a day.

*Given the option, what animal would you choose to be?*
A cat.

*When you were younger, what did you want to be?*
A teacher.

*What makes you feel great about yourself?*
When I'm doing something I'm good at, I guess, or when I manage to help someone.

*How did you meet your significant other?*
It was an arranged marriage. My cousin fixed me up with her husband's nephew. I don't remember saying yes, but I guess I didn't say no, and now here we are, 26 years later. :)

*What was the best day of your life?*
I'm going to say my wedding day, because my life took a dramatic turn for the better after that.

*What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)*
I'm good at drawing and other artsy-craftsy stuff. I'm an OK cook, and a good reader.

*What is the one thing you must do before you die?*
It's not up to me, but I'd really like to see my grandkids.

What’s the geekiest thing about you?
I'm a Charlotte Bronte geek and a Harry Potter geek.

*If you had to teach something, what would you teach?*
English or Economics

*What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?*
Not becoming a teacher, like I wanted. That's the biggest regret of my life.

*If you were to be stuck at a particular time in your life, which one would you choose and why?*
I guess the present is as good as any, though not sure I'd like to be stuck. I'd like to see my son married for instance, but I also don't want to grow any older than this. :D

*What one thing would you NEED to have on a deserted island if you didn't have to worry over food and water? *
A nice thick sketch pad and a good supply of pencils and things. I think drawing would be the ideal desert island pastime for me.

*If you were a king/queen for a day, what would you do?*
Umm...stay in bed till it's all over and I'm myself again. :)

*What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?*
At the moment blueberry. Or is it blackcurrant? One of the purple ones.

*What song is in your head at the moment?*
I am a Rock 'cause I mentioned it earlier

*Which book are you reading at the moment?*
White Teeth by Zadie Smith. Almost finished.

*What is your favourite quote?*
There are so many. Ok, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life" - Psalm 23

*What’s your favorite word?*
Benign. It's a lovely word to hear when the biopsy reports of people that you know come back, and it's a nice word whichever way you look at it.

*Favorite avatar on the Forum?*
JBI's blue sleeve portrait. I always think of it as JBI's own pic. :D

*Favorite threads?*
I like the book threads, when they're discussing something I've read.

What's your favorite sandwich?
Chapathi and peanut butter if it qualifies as a sandwich. I have it for breakfast everyday. It's really yum and and lasts me till lunchtime.

*What is your answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything?*?
42. Or was it 82? I knew the answer at one time but I've forgotten.

*How could English teachers make reading literature more meaningful to students (young or old)*?
I think including short extracts from the classics in textbooks (rather than whole books) is a good idea. That's what they used to do when I was in school, and it's probably what got me interested in literature.

*What are you wearing at the moment?*
Pants and kurta.

*Favorite poem?*
Don't have any.

*First novel you remember reading on your own?*
Probably The Mystery of the Vanishing Cat by Enid Blyton.

*What era do you find most of the books you read are from?*
19th century

*Favorite TV shows?*
I like Masterchef Australia, Big Bang theory and (**blush**)Grey's Anatomy.

*Which Forum members would you like to meet in person?*
Umm...off the top of my head - Virgil, Scher, Qimi, Neely, Loka, Emil, JBI, Kev, Kiki, Ruggerlad, Cacian, Delta, Nihar, Dark Muse, Kelby Lake, Sancho, Gilliatt Gurgle, Calidore...

*Are you a winter or summer?*
I like to think of myself as summery.

*Last person you hugged/kissed?*
Son.

*What do you do to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going? And are you happy with your chosen profession?*
I'm a housewife so of course no one pays me for that. Hubby's a doctor, and he pays all the bills. :)

*If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would that be?*
I'd like to look 5 years younger.

*What book would you recommend to others of all types and ages as a must read?*
Huckleberry Finn

*What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?*
Housework.

*Describe your ideal day, please.*
A day in which I don't have to do any housework or cooking, and don't have to go out. Then I can spend the whole day reading or doing whatever I like.

*Favorite movie?*
The Piano, Pulp fiction, Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill, LOTR...

*Last movie you watched?
LOTR Return of the King yet again this afternoon.

*How are you going to pick just one favourite painting?*
You can't. It's impossible!

*Favorite painting?*
See above.

*Are you gellin'?*
What is 'gellin'?

*Wonderful Superman or depressing Batman?*
Superman, definitely. Batman's too dark for me.

*Something you want to forget but you never can?*
What an idiot I was as a kid. Though actually it's become quite a distant memory and doesn't bother me much anymore.

*If you could send one thing to the Room 101, one would that be?*
Cunning crafty duplitious people.

*Tell us something scandalous about yourself.*
I'm not telling. ;) (which is more interesting than "nothing much to tell"!)

*How long did it take you to answer all of these questions?*Only about 20 days. :D

*One final word of wisdom for LitNet users?*
Live one day at a time, and don't worry about anything unless it actually happens.

*What question would you like to ask to the person to be interview after you?
What is the funniest thing that happened to you lately? (On second thoughts, this interview is long enough already.) :D

Thanks for the kind wishes, everyone! :)

Calidore, Cacian is right about the Chappathi. It's a flat bread made from whole wheat flour. I make 'em from scratch everyday.
