Each falling foot, as footfalls go
If left in place, will likely grow.

Well watered, rooted to the spot,
A shoe-tree'll sprout, as like as not.

As a grade school teacher, I like the charm, rhyme, and layered simplicity of the piece. Any one of the teachers I work with, would say that this is adorable.

This made me tired! LOL!

Good to see you posting again, after a brief respite. This latest ditty is quite endearing.
Incidentally, here in a part of the world where we have occasionally a goodly amount of snow on the ground, yours fooly has noticed a peculiar phenom, regarding animal footprints. Given the changing temperatures, which can go up or down, depending on the amount of sunlight and/or wind, the hoof and paw prints seem to get bigger or "grow." This can confuse observers at time, as a group of amateur researchers on a TV show who mistook a set of large footprints as having originated with Sasquatch.

It's been a while Hawk, now back with a little treat of a poem for us! It twists my imagination as I follow the foot to the print to the tree that grows out of it. Everything is so smooth, organic and effortless, from the transition to the actual writing itself.

B4B: Sorry to have wearied you but delighted that your grade school colleagues would enjoy it ;)

Twota: Good :D

Auntie: Thank'ee, been a bit busy and preoccupied for a while. Glad you found it endearing :D Don't get many sasquatch around here. Even the beast of Bodmin seems to have gone away. They threatened us with snow last night, but all we got was rain. I believe the Midlands and Wales have had a bit.

Haunted: Four lines emerged from the eternal void and I scribbled them down before they got away. Glad you like em :)

Thanks to all for reading.

Live and be well - H

Melanie: I'm terribly sorry, I seem to have overlooked you in my response. An oversight, but definitely not an intended slight. I blame my laptop with its wide screen. I only get narrow slices of screen to look at and I'm afraid you disappeared between the posts above as I was replying to the others. Anyway, glad you thought the poem clever ;)

I found myself stuck in this poem for considerably longer than four lines. Very fun to read and reread.

Hi deryk, thanks for reading, though I trust you have been able to successfully extricate yourself from my sticky lines :D Glad you enjoyed the fun.
