In the section when Sylvie takes Ruthie out to the wilderness with the abandoned house, what do the children represent?
I can't seem to give them a definition...

I hadn't realized they were symbolic.

A better question might be why does Sylvie take Ruthie out to the wilderness with the abandoned house?

It's a fine book. I can't praise it enough. Don't know about the children or the abandoned house but I remember being convinced the whole book was about entropy. Seems unlikely in more sober reflection, but I think like all the best books there is room for many interpretations.

i enjoyed it but felt i needed a re-read to truly dive into its deeper meaning.
