The Prophet on the Mountain

Upon the virtuous mountain
Stood a prophet,
A virtual ghost to the eyes of man.

And there he delivered his sermon,
While the birds and flowers swayed
In the soft mystical air.

And his words did please the heavens
Whose clouds opened up,
As raindrops pelted on divine drums.

And the spirit swirled about
Unseen by the eyes of man,
Kept away from this beautiful sight.

And indeed the prophet glorified God
Whose face lit up like the driven snow,
Whose voice spoke like bells that chimed in the valley trough.

"Hear ye all the people's of the earth
Hear the commandments of the Lord!
He has spoken to his prophet
But you have all turned away!

"Listen in the valley as the bells ring.
See the snow settle on the evergreens that bring
Joy to the heart of innocence.

"But you have all turned away from God;
Now the last bell will ring
And you will be called up to the God you ignored.
Oh hear this", cried the prophet.

"I have the word of God in my heart
And I have seen his work upon the earth."

Just as the rain had ended
The prophet ascended into heaven.
