The number twelve looks just like you kid,
I'm thinking this as you stand there
with your face painted in that damned eternal smile.
So lovely and delicate but not a thought in your head.
I don't know if I can fault you, I've been trying
to go easier on people and be more understanding
but the number twelve looks just like you.
Yet there are many things that I admire about you,
things you probably don't see in yourself
and in many ways I wish I was like you.
I wish I was carefree and unencumbered
by suffering and my own delicate breed of insanity.
But I know you suffer as well, maybe as much as I
but your heart seems rigid at times to the suffering of
people unlike yourself and it is juxtaposed
by your exterior and your action.
Yet it is possible that there is no one capable
of more love and compassion
and I suspect you hold a potent venom
or a great antidote to the minds of men
but the number twelve looks like you.
If you have ever seen the Twilight Zone Episode titled The Number Twelve Looks Just Like You maybe you'll get it. This is written for a young woman growing up in our increasingly materialistic, shallow, exceedingly stupid, careless, thoughtless and brutal society.
