The story I'm about to tell you
Has always been of issue,
For I thought to keep it in.
For how does one go about to report on something so ghastly
As to not get a chill that spills down one's spine.

For what I'm about to write
I had hoped to bury deep inside of me;
So that even I could not remember,
Much less be inspired to think about it.
But I do in hope that it would leave me forever
And I will be through with it
And never have to recall its ghostly realm again.

Now, I was never really into seeing apparitions before,
Nor did I believe in them one bit;
But that all changed that day I saw one
And it was quite disturbing to say the least.
For how could I not know that it saw me too?
And that it was playing with me;
And showing me the things he or she could do.
For in the midst there I saw a swing set
And that thing began to rock back n forth,
And there was no wind to speak of,
Just some force to the squeaky set that rocked back n forth.

And then I heard a child's voice, crying "mommy!"
It's then I realized I was at the property of the lost child
That went missing years ago.

The rumor had been she was a gifted child
With a clairvoyance to see in the future.
Though what that meant about her demise,
And did she beforehand know what was about to happen?
I will only speculate.
For her perpetrators turned out to be her own family,
Her mother and father; who never warmed up to the girl,
Though that was the rumor.

And again I can only surmise
That they just wanted to get rid of her.
Because they themselves had no love for the girl.
And now one of them are doing time.

Though the mother is about to get out,
Since it was never proven she had a hand
In the plot,
That she was only an accomplice.
But an accomplice nonetheless,
Since she had every reason to do it.
Though she denied when interviewed
About having involvement whatsoever.

And now the father died under strange circumstances.
As one would think poetic karma played a role in it.
Though who could say for sure
If some mysterious spirit had a hand.
But all I know is he took his own life,
Rather than face judgment for his actions.
Though cause of death has never been precluded.

For it happened in a rather odd way
And the autopsy was inclusive in itself.
So just another mystery in the sad story.
For he was found hanging by the very tree next to the swing set,
But he also had a two by four that was lodged in his heart;
And this shocked the cops even more so than finding the little girls dead body
A few months after she went missing;
So indeed another strange twist.

And as this story was going through my head
It's then I turned my attention back on the swing set
That was rocking even stronger than when at first I saw it;
And this was having a definite effect on me.
Though I was just an innocent bystander,
I was the only soul around and I wondered just what kind of spirit
I was encountering, if indeed it was from this girl who died.

Then I clearly heard a voice, coming from the swing set say:
"Come here mommy, I got something for you!"

And at this instance I knew this spirit bore a wicked face,
And was out seeking revenge.
Though I did not believe in spirits to begin with.
So how I drew such conclusions was even beyond me.
But such was the astonishing arrival my mind was at;
That I was in some haunted nightmare and that I was not dreaming,
But was alive in the elements and feeling it all played out before me;
Especially the creaking swing set that moved methodically back n forth
As if by its own propulsion.

And then a voice I heard.
A neighbor of the house had come over.

"Hey, have you heard? such a tragedy!
The day the mother was set to be released she died in a car wreck;
What do you make of that?"

I said nothing, but just stared at the swing set which stopped moving, as if satisfied.

It looks like a poem, but since you posted it here presumably you realise it's not. It's an essay of sorts but for a supposed supernatural story it's hardly gripping. There's far too much build-up - and the resolution could be seen a mile off.
