Sharing the same shadow,

breathing the same air.

walking the same forests

and flying in each others dreams.

Shared moments passed with celerity,

yet every one counted.

Their love was utterly beguiling,

trust, so fundamental, lulled

And cradled them into bliss.

-

Seduced into a fairy tale of happy ever after

They accepted the tears, knowing

they’d be followed by laughter.

The blows they took hurt less taken together.

They endured storms because

The wind filled the sails of the boat they shared;

there was no fear carrying burdens into the dark,

because the path cleared when passions lit the flare.

The same flame ignited the forest

Suffocated life and burned shadows.

Blazes pour ash over dreams.

Sweet love; I miss you.

A poem with a personal message I'm guessing. Some tender imagery but I'm not so keen on

Their love was utterly beguiling which is a worn-out phrase, and The wind filled the sails of the boat they shared that sounds a little too Bette Middler for a poem,

Thanks H for responding. Looking at this again I feel it's too full of abstractions to work right now. (Nothing personal in it by the way!)

Perhaps too many abstractions indeed and the whole work needs trimming, but I love the atmosphere and these lines:

The same flame ignited the forest

Suffocated life and burned shadows.

Blazes pour ash over dreams.

An inspired New Year Pete.
