Hello! I'm new to the forum and found you literally by Google. I hope that it isn't bad form to submit a request for help as a first post but I was wondering if anyone could identify the stories below that I've been searching for for YEARS.
1. The story is about a headmaster or a teacher who I think may have been a bully. He is on his death bed and I think haunted by things that he has done at school. The story is set in the 1970s/80s and a young girl, whose father may be a vicar, has gone to take his 'confession'. The story was in the style of John Gordon but I don't think it's one of his. I remember graffiti in the loos and someone getting their head flushed down the loo, and the last words of the story are "Please come back soon" from the girl to her father, as she was frightened about the intensity of the confession he was about to hear. It could be Ramsey Campbell?
2. The story is about a woman who goes to the beach with her young son (Victorian era). He becomes friends with another small boy and they play together. Little by little the woman realises that her friend's son is actually a ghost and at the end they sit on the beach together as the water rises over their heads as she runs to try and save him.
3. The story is about a young woman whose name is Kitty or Pussy Willow, or similar. She is peeling an apple and throws the apple peel over her shoulder to discover the initial of her true love. It falls in the letter "o" and the story contains the lines "she smiles at her folly". Google has not been my friend on this one!
4. This story is one I heard on Radio 4 many many years ago. It's about a young girl called Christine who goes missing. The story ends with the words "They never found Christine. [But I still remember her - can't remember the exact words.] And that name. Harry."
If anyone can help me with any of these I would greatly appreciate it! I know this is a short in the dark but if you don't ask you don't get. Thank you!
