In High School back around 1973 I remember reading a story in my English class that was about two bugs having a discussion about the sun. These two bugs only live for 6 hours and they were looking up at the sun and wondering if it was always in the sky. One bug argued that since watching they had seen the sun move in a straight line and if it kept going the sun would go below the horizon. The other bug argued that the sun probably did not always move in a straight line and that it certainly always stayed in the sky because he couldn't imagine it ever not being in the sky.
As I recall the story was written by Benjamin Franklin and was part of Poor Richard's Almanac, but I have looked through Poor Richard's Almanac and cannot find the story. Does anyone know the author of this story and where I can find it?
Thanks,
Brian Bruderer
