I'm going INSANE searching for a book written possibly 30-50 years ago. Read it over and over again when I was still very young but now all I have is a blurry storyline and nothing else. A man lost in the wild and saved by a mysterious, seemingly brute who lived with his loyal huskies and a young woman who appeared to be his captive. One detail that has stuck with me is the woman cutting a bit of her golden hair and offering to the brute as an attempt to calm the beast in him which seemed to work every time. There were vicious wolves, loyal snow dogs, ill spirited humans, raw meat, beautiful love story between the lost man and the young woman with both unable to communicate as he was American and she something else. For the life of me I can't even remember any of the characters' names. Dying to find out but not much on Google. If this rings a bell and you know what this novel, please let me know! Thank you :)
