Can you more explicit about your question in connexion with Mrs Sowerberry's comment that Oliver will 'grow on her meat and vittles'. I would've thought the conversation was self-explanatory. All she's complaining about is how much more it will cost her in food, and will they get their 'moneys worth of work from him in return'. In the time period 'Oliver' is set-in, childern were expected to work like un-paid slaves for little renumeration. Sad really.<br>

I wish to research something which I believe happens in Chapter 4 but cannot seem to open that chapter.<br>The incident is when Oliver first meets Mrs Sowerberry - she offers him food and is horrified at the amount he eats and she says the Mr Bumble the Beadle in answer the the comment "he'll grow" she says<br>"yes, on our meat, and our vittles" and I wish to review that conversation and I cannot find it - can you help?<br>
