What makes one person different another in terms of opinions and views regarding society as a whole?

In the case of women bishop for example.
Take one women who is a bishop and one man who is happy that she is and in the same breath one woman a one man go completely against it.

In other words why can't people agree on big things or small especially when it comes to their very own wishes?
It seems that people are constantly in opposition of each other when it comes to the least worrying things in life and it is tragic to see it.

While I personally agree with your sentiments - those opposed to - let's say, women becoming bishops - do not see it as the least worrying things.

Our opinions are influenced by our upbringing, and when you throw religion into the mix, that upbringing becomes something so solidified that people cannot stand when it is challenged. Allowing a woman to be a bishop undermines an institution that thrives on its traditional foundation. Every time - according to these people - something is done to shake the foundation, a bit of the institution collapses.

Religion is not by any means the only case of this. Political views, or societal roles always create an opposition between those who think that the strength of (x) relies on maintaining the status quo, and those who believe that (x) can only be strong when things change and "progress".

So no, it is not a simple matter of just allowing a woman to be a bishop - as much as you or I may want it to be.

interesting.
THis shows how misplaced people or the church worries are.
For women to lead in a positive role and be aspiring role models togenerations to come this is one opportunity the church and god has missed out on. It is a big bad move.
The church and religious driven people have much intellectual challenge to take up and it is truly worrying that religion of all institution is to stand in the way of women's up bringing to be involved in a position of religious authority.

Our opinions are influenced by our upbringing, and when you throw religion into the mix, that upbringing becomes something so solidified that people cannot stand when it is challenged.
Influences stem from all sources of knowledge family society culture as well as our own ability and intellect to challenge what does not feel right. To rely on old institutions as a matter of de facto ''I am like this because my religion is'' is truly worrying.
I would have thought institutions demonstrate inform as well improve but do not prevent from new opinions to arise.
I am because I think.

Disallowing anything to develop in any society be it women bishops or any other new concepts that reinforce present values and develop new ones is more undermining.

Religion is not by any means the only case of this. Political views, or societal roles always create an opposition between those who think that the strength of (x) relies on maintaining the status quo, and those who believe that (x) can only be strong when things change and "progress".

It is funny because it seems that those who think have nothing in common with those who believe and that is an irony.
I think an opposition that is based on beliefs is unfounded and has not place in a modern forward looking society.

No you are right and what is more the next time a woman wants to challenge the church for any kind of a misconduct that would be one of the reasons why a church would not allow women bishops in their bosoms.
The church or religion is not ready for a shake up of reality.
And yet there is a society that bangs on on equal opportunities and when it is presented with one it is unable to assume what it preaches.
