Hello! I hope I've put this is the right forum but I saw some other people asking similar further down the page. I was hoping someone might know the name and author of a short story I've been trying to trace. I read it in my A Level English class so I'm hoping that it must be fairly well known? It's quite difficult to Google though.
It was a very short story and followed a young girl happily walking through her families farm, but as she leaves the farm by a tree she sees an old noose and I can't remember if there was also a body or skeleton or something? But she had basically found a black man who had been lynched, and the story was dealing with racism and loss of innocence. I was really powerful and stuck with me and I'd like to find it again if possible.
