He never reacted to bad news well.
While others wept
at life's tragedies,
his palms would press together
as his denture pushed forward
and a funny little bow
would reveal his inner Indian.
Goodness gracious me!
Where is my Icecream Van when I need it?
Miraculously it would appear
ringing Greensleeves loud enough
to kill any serious moment.
Alas my love you do me wrong
Oh my God!
I can hardly hear myself think.
This music is drowning out all thought.
His friends tried to drag him back
to his everyday self
but until the icecream van departed
he swayed,
he swooned
and insisted everyone call him
Chandrahandrakandra.

I would love to see Cacian's take on this.

Lol. In which thread?
Poems, Poets, and Poetry would seem the most appropriate. Some years ago, I met a very old gent who had worked at Bletchley Park where the German code breakers were located during WWII. Am I alone in thinking that had the Germans had Cacian working for them everyone would be speaking German now?

Thank God. In another thread, not being male or Indian I'm being dishonest to my authentic self and therefore cannot in all honesty post something that I am not....but if I predict this is going to happen to me in the future, will I be off the hook?

Thought I would like to say that I like this poem. Not got any constructive criticism to give but thought I'd compliment you on this particular part...

Thanks Sreenan. I wrote this more for fun than anything else. It is inspired by a true story....!
