Proles and Party Members.

George Orwell makes mention of proles and party members several times in the book. He [Orwell] also state that the proles are loyal to the Party. My confusion is what is the real difference between proles and party members?

The proles are basically the working class. They work in the factories, on farms, building sites, doing manual work mainly. The party members are basically middle class administrators, office workers or professionals in any occupation that requires a certain amount of education. As the state controls all those types of jobs, you almost certainly need to be a party member to be accepted for them.
