Care Confusion

War is far away
far away, far away
so, I can care later
I can have coffee, I can have tea
I can eat cake
but war is far away
far away it seems...

the radio screams
but its wire-tongue, cables long,
swims in no adjacent sea
and the electric tints are but things
a serene observatory

the television is a studio
of plays far away
people live and die anyway
what is there is not here
all is much serene

your tears are not mine
nor body, limb nor carcass
the soil you trudge is not my own
the air you breathe is not my concern
the pleas you petition are but sounds
in a hollow vacuum

but then things get louder
and outside my gate I see a bloodied child
and no gasp, no panic, no freeze can prepare me
no nationality, no open-mindedness, no democracy, no one country
can prepare me...

and I realized, in the sounds of fury muted by silence
that we are all humans
there should be humanity for all
but that had not happened...▬

Winter and Light

wind, wind, light woven as winter approaches
crow calls are amongst the glade
and I walk in the path unknown
probably named in the future
now I am just walking...▬
