Even the most isolated beach in Thailand
holds the stink of America, of industry and Arizona Iced Tea
look at these cities choked by the noose of progress
like a dolphin trapped in a plastic ring
**** Cortez, he had nothing on this
and here in the thick of it all
the tears of many rain done upon us
and fuel us forward, fuel our hunger
we grow bigger and eclipse the storm
in one breath consume the storm
and there is nothing left but progress and Arizona Iced Tea

Nothing on the Amazon then thank god. Amazonian tea can become a thing of the past and where would progress be?
in a poll station somewhere in space awaiting our votes to capitalise it.
Indeed.
Great piece E. A Rumfield.
Thank you for posting.

Hey tony what is anti western?

The poem smacks of standard Anti-Western/Anti-American standard stock. I'm not going to get into a discussion with you about it Cacian. Maybe it's the language difficulty, but I do not understand your postings quite often, and when I do understand - I do not agree with you.

I actually don't mind anti-American or Anti -anything. I just want to make sure that Everyone gets a punch- and yes, lets start with Africa!-why not?- have some fun!

Russia, China, England are just as bad but I see a world wide movement to become more American. You can go to nearly any country you please and find Wal-Mart or 7-11 or McDonalds that sell Pokemon toys in their Happy Meals. I think America is only a lie viewed through a hazy fog. At least in Russia they don't try to hide their corruption under the guise of democracy, they just openly forge election results.

Oh it does not matter you do not agree with me tony.
I like discussions altogether. If you do not agree with me it is fine because it means we can both carrying trying to understand what we both are trying to say and in the meantime new things get said.
I simply asked what you meant by anti-western because I thought people in the west in general saw themselves by their nationalities first or really as individuals.

No Wal-Marts in Britain (or at least, I've never seen one) :p
I for one would definitely rather live in the USA than Russia.

cacian; anti-western just means you dislike Western countries/governments (AKA the EU + USA )

I view myself as a Westerner with broad Judeo Christian values and I feel strongly about those values. This poem broadly critisizes Western European Civilization by America bashing with little thought for Americans as individuals with a broad spectrum of views(as evidenced in the recent elections). And I don't shop at Walmart or eat at McDonalds, but using them as a proxy for America is unfair.

And I have no regard for political correctness.

Asda is owned by Walmart. They tend to buy out existing European, Latin, or Asian companies as a more seamless way to invest in a country. They are aware of the name having negative connotations and most people do not know who owns what and how.

I live in New York. From my personal experience America has no culture or values. Let me not even get started on the ignorance of the Christian masses. If there is one thing we have learned it is that after World War 1 America will damn well do what it is told to do. In Russia you don't have a choice and it is plainly stated. In America you don't have a choice but we pretend that we do. Sure you get to pick between two preselected, cultured and robotic candidates. It is like picking between Coca Cola or Pepsi, but soda is bad for you. As long as their are these two parties in power we will never have a fair election and that is not even to delve into the over whelming evidence of mass corruption in the American judicial and political system.

Americans as individuals seems like an oxymoron, considering their tendency to leap like lemmings in their millions into the 'latest' fad no matter how obviously contrived it is. Not a new phenomenon of course, and still noticeable in other countries within the reach and control of corporate America. But there are increasing signs that the rest of the world are beginning to realise that the USA, like all economic empires before it, has feet of clay, and are increasingly looking to the East for the next world superpower.

Russia is the obvious contender to America in terms of global power but I think that especially in Central and South America even in India the culture is being sacrificed for Americanization. If these people lose their culture to anybody it is a shame but to see little brown skin children worshiping Anglo gods is unsettling.

I think if any country has an opportunity to bring us into a future that is in any way human it would have to be Sweden or Switzerland. If I were to move abroad it would be to one of those countries or to a South American country like Costa Rica for the fact that I like the culture and the government is so uncoordinated that it honestly doesn't matter.

The Swiss are far ahead of almost everyone in terms of science and quality of living. They may practice the only true democracy. What is conscription in a neutral country? You learn some worth while life skills and continue your life.
