What is his favorite movie? First kiss, did he have a good relationship with his parents, boxers or briefs and the question that tells the most about anybody; favorite cheese.

I have no strong opinion on Wood, but that blog is laughable and a little pathetic.

Cannot read Blogspot in China, shame. Either way, he is an OK critic, a book reviewer and not an academic. As Frye put it, this is the bottom tier of criticism, so he is on the top tier of the bottom.

Hi dfw how about starting with why did he become a critic first.
Then move on to talk about the very first book he wrote.
Then his very first book/writer he critiqued.
And what kind critic materials has he produced to show he is a top critic?

Is this thread a move with my post deleted, or a duplicate post on another board?

I've been reading his reviews and essays in The New Yorker for years. I've also read his book, How Fiction Works, which would be more accurately titled as, How Certain Mechanisms in Fiction Work. I don't necessarily agree with everything he writes, but I certainly enjoy reading him.
