Dear Readers,

I am minoring in Philosophy at my school, but eventually want to get a Master's in it. What are some good philosophy books I can read that are essential in the the realm of; Rationalistic Philosophy, Empiricist Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy. Also, any other must-reads would be appreciated!

~Thanks :cold:

Off the top of my head (and to name just a few):

Literally anything by Plato and Aristotle
Meditations on First Philosophy by Descartes
A Treatise of Human Nature by David Hume
An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding by David Hume
Critique of Pure Reason by Immanuel Kant
Critique of Practical Reason by Immanuel Kant
Critique of Judgment by Immanuel Kant
Phenomenology of Spirit by G.W.F. Hegel
Works of Love by Soren Kierkegaard
The Sickness Unto Death by Soren Kierkegaard
Fear and Trembling by Soren Kierkegaard
Repetition by Soren Kierkegaard
Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche
Almost anything by Sigmund Freud
Being and Time by Martin Heidegger
Ecrits by Jacques Lacan
Any of the seminars by Jacques Lacan
Of Grammatology by Jacques Derrida
Dissemination by Jacques Derrida
Writing and Difference by Jacques Derrida

Okay, I confess, most of those aren't off the top of my head. I glanced over at my bookshelf and picked out what I regard as "the essentials." There are *plenty* of more books I'd recommend, but I'd rather not sit here all night and rattle them off. :p
