Newspeak, Ignorance is Strength Party slogan

Under Newspeak people can no longer express emotions or thoughts because of the obliteration of adjectives. Big Brother takes away such freedoms because he doesnt want rebellion, and that's the exact result he gets. Not only do the people have a fear of speaking from the thought police and telescreens, with the newspeak they cannot converse about their issues if they wanted or had the opportunity to. The Party and Big Brother convince the public to agree to such a limited language with their ridiculous slogan Ignorance is Strength. By saying ignorance is strength they imply that what you dont know cant hurt you, therefore saying as long as you stay ignorant you will stay safe. Because of this idea the people of Oceania no longer have a thirst for knowledge, they feel no need to be highly educated.
