A glance at his smile puts grace into everyone’s lives,
A chant of his name enchants the feminine hearts.

His wits work for mankind like a path that unveils itself,
His spirit is an omnipotent, in which everything rests at the end.

Oh! Heavenly entity, I now understand what Heaven really is,
As nothing but the heart in which You prevail.

Oh! Sacred mantra, I now understand what a chant really is,
As nothing but the word that speaks of Your might.

Oh! Eternal eon, I now understand what inexplicability really is,
As something that can’t be described, such as Your enigma.

You’re the aisle through which every being walks along – Life.
You’re the rule we all abide that keeps us from chaos – Law.
You’re the greenery that holds the real beauty of this planet - Flora.
You’re the joy that blossoms on the lips of an infant - Bliss.

Consensus? This is religious proselytizing, really. I'm sure it works for you and others, but other things work as well (for others), and it'd just be an unprovable power-play to instinctively (or strategically) claim that all of them and their understandings are encompassed by this Krishna stuff.

I am in no way intended to encourage any religious proselytizing by those lines.. They were just a few lines I wrote about a Indian God for an Indian festival... If you feel it's causing prejudice towards any religion you may ask the ADMIN to remove the Thread rightaway. I've no issues at all with that.

Very much a piece written to celebrate Krishna. Not offensive to anyone in my opinion (we're all free to praise whosoever we wish on here) but not especially poetical either (though another thread on here suggests I should put aside my Westernised prejudices and accept this style is perfectly in keeping with the Indian interpretation of 'poetry').

I enjoyed the closing four lines best. Devotional poetry is an acquired taste and you seem to have mastered the art well.

I like this poem, it does remind me of the graceful writing of the Bhagavad-Gita.

I enjoyed the poem. What was the festival's name?

The image was in a style I was not used to in seeing pictures of Krishna. There was only a hint of blue-colored skin, for example. Do you have a link to more images like this one?

The name of the fest is Sri Krishna Janmashtami, meaning the birthday of lord Sri Krishna...
and here http://www.hindugodwallpaper.com/sub-index-68.html you can browse some cute pics of Him.

Thanks for the link and the name of the festival. I enjoyed the last four lines of your poem the best.
