What do you do to develop new ideas on which you're gonna write a book? Do you read more books? Do you travel to different places? Do you meet people and talk to them? Or do you create (fictionlise) everything by yourself? What do you think is most prominent?

All of the above work. My preference is to be hyper-aware of what is happening around me, looking for potential characters or situations. I find my best ideas come when I am either just wandering around or riding public transit and my mind is allowed to just....go. I grab hold of something, start writing it doewn, and see if it becomes anything (sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it does.)

Most prominent are life experiences and putting an artistic touch to it...the process of doing that though needs different forms of inspiration. Usually found in a pipe, a rolled up blunt and sat at my window through the sunrise whilst forcing myself to carry on doing more and more.
Oh yeah, try sleep all day and then wake up at midnight, have your 'tools' ready and write whilst sunrise happens above your desk/laptop! Works for me...

i do not actually write so i shouldnt really answer this. i do love to cook though, with the freshest and most delicious vegetables and herbs, grown in my own garden. sometimes people who eat the meals i prepare contract unusual powers as a result, like laser eyes, or manicured fingernails.

Good question .
I tend to draw my ideas from things like experiences and visuals and sounds.
I keep an open mind all the time about what to write so even when I am talking to someone I can get an idea I picked up from talking.
I can get an idea looking at a painting or a person crossing the road or even just being out and about.
I pick up ideas from being aware when I am out say shopping or going for walks or holidays.
Begin observant nature people can be a an excellent source of ideas.
If I am on holiday and I get an idea because I saw heard or imagined something I saw I jot it down quickly.
Finding ideas one can train to spot. It should become second nature to writing.

wow a wake up call at midnight? I could not do it if I tried. I feel it would detract me for my daily sunlight and daytime really.
I prefer to keep my sleeping patterns in line with nature because this is when I am at best with writing.

When it comes to writing books all I am concerned about is open to new ideas. Ideas are in the air and there is no scantiness of ideas. Things happen every time and everywhere and all I want is translating my experiences into beautiful sentences and I often run short of words, in fact appropriate words. Language is inadequate at times to give vent to our complex thoughts. Stories happen every day with everybody. Every home has something to tell and amazing things happen under every roof. We must have an eye to see things critically and productively.
No society is not without stories of some type and a good artistic mind can piece ideas in an integral manner and can weave them into beautiful pieces
