In my dream we were older
Our house was beautiful
Full of warm colors
Deep red and oranges
Reminding me of warm autumn days and changing leaves
Falling all around my feet
Bustling around in the oncoming winds
Everything was soft and comfortable
I remember every time I looked into your eyes I felt at home
Your smile covered me like a warm blanket when the wind and rain started knocking on our door unannounced
I needed you like a hunger
Burning inside of me
I remember when you kissed me
Soaring through my mind like a drug I so badly needed and still do
You looked at me with that smile dancing in your eyes
You whispered to me
“You’re such a good mommy”
The grin that filled my entire being was genuine
“You’re such a good dad”
I whispered back
Your lips met mine
Short and absolute
And we never stopped smiling
