Peace be on you.
Faith, belief and religion is to bring human closer to God and to help them live peacefully with each other but when religious sentiments of people are hurt through mockery and disrespect, unrest begins which is another problem. All that leads to chaos in world.

Even a worldly government do not tolerate a person who present himself as government servant while he is not. How then God let a false person get prestige which is only reserved for true envoys of God. With the passage of time religions ( if there is no exclusive divine promise for their safety) can be corrupted through misunderstand of original teachings, like when metaphors are taken in literal sense.

A principle is mentioned to establish peace and harmony among religions, by the claimant of being promised Messiah and Mahdi in his book (A Gift for the Queen, it was sent to Queen Victoria of UK at her diamond Jubilee, Book is readable in alislamDOTorg) ------

".....we shall honour and accept as true all those who claimed to be prophets at any time, and their claim was estalblished and their religion became widespread and fourished over a long period............This principle lays down the foundation of love, peace and harmony, and supports moral values, in that we consider all those prophets true who appeared in the world ---- whether in India, or Persia, or China or any other country. God instilled their respect and grandeur in the hearts of millions and made firm the roots of their religion, which remained established for centuries. This is the principle that the Quran teaches us. In light of this principle, we honour all religious founders who fall under this description whether they are the founders of the religion of the Hindus, or the religion of Persian, or the religion of Chinese, or the religion of the Jews or the religion of the Christians. Unfortunately, our adversaries cannot treat us this way, and they do not bear in mind the pristine and unalterable law of God that He does not give that blessing and honour to a false prophet that He bestow upon the true one. The religion of a fasle prophet does not take root and does not last long as does the religion of a truthful prophet. Therefore, people subscribing to this kind of belief – who defame the prophets of other nations by declaring them false – are always enemies of peace and harmony, because there is no greater mischief than abusing the elders of other nations..............

...Welfare of humanity, peace, harmony, righteousness, and fear of God call for adhering to the principle that we do not declare such prophets as fasle concerning whose truth the opinion of millions of people for centuries has been established, and they have been supported by God since time immemorial. I am confident that a seeker of truth, whether Asian or European, will cherish this principle, and will profoundly regret that he did not believe in it all along"

I think this is a beautiful post, and I agree, all of our brothers and sisters, insofar as they be human, deserve the same respect regardless of religion and the words of the great prophets has often been twisted for evil, human ends.

I mean, honestly, who would one be benefiting by being disrespectful or even violent as some people are? No man's soul was ever changed by application of the sword, rather, it would seem any man would be resentful of being forcefully changed except through God himself's work. Surely the mind of God acting internally is stronger than our earthly legions, no matter how great or well-armed.

It's also impractical. We have many brilliant minds that come from all sects and stripes of religion, and each has something to contribute to the whole of humanity, what can we possibly hope to achieve by so fervently dividing them? Simply, nothing. We will stagnate and our development as a species will be slow indeed.

What about "prophets" who do not believe in God - like Buddhist monks, secular professors of philosophy, or other atheist leaders of thought?
