Hope you had a wonderful day! :cheers2:

The year was 1962, John F. Kennedy was President of the United States and the cold war with Russia was in full swing as the world witnessed the Cuban Missile Crisis. Also in 1962, Marilyn Monroe died of a drug overdose at the age of 36 and Johnny Carson took over the duties of "The Tonight Show." Landmark movies that hit the big screen in '62 included "Lawrence of Arabia" and "To Kill a Mockingbird." The Academy Award winner for best picture that year was none other than "West Side Story."

Thanks Schehe, thanks all !

I see that Mike Judge, of King of the Hill fame, is turning 50 this year. That's good company.
Thanks for the image MM - alluding to my Roswell fantasies.

An interview with Gilliatt Gurgle:

*Why are we doing this interview thing?*
I need to update my last one from a couple of years ago.

*So, how old are you?*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AepyGm9Me6w

*What is the best birthday present you've ever received?*
Difficult to recall. Maybe the Erector Set or Tot Rod (open frame chassis pedal car)

*If you had a personal theme song what would it be?*
The missus says:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJGSHMgbB0E

How about track one “Main Theme” from Dylan's sound track to "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid"

*Are you male or female? *
Male

*If you could build an entire planet from scratch, what would it look, sound and smell like?*
It would be flat, one cubit thick and everything else would revolve around it. It would smell like purple sage and piñon, quiet except for the occasional breeze across the grass and the sound of the surf.

*Would you like to join Maximilianus' Air Force?*
Yes; if I could be Major Kong

*What was the inspiration for your LitNet username?*
Protagonist from Hugo's "Toilers of the Sea"
The last name represents what I imagine to be his last sound.

*Which countries have you visited?*
Most of Western Europe, Mexico and Canada.

*Which languages do you speak?*
English

*If you could live somewhere different, where would it be and why?*
Same as last interview-Chama New Mexico.

*Do you have any pets?*
Yes - One dog Betty and a cat Lily

*What's your favourite song for singing in the shower?*
Recently it has been Loretta Lynn's "Blue Kentucky Girl"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z--wy_cdwQ

*Which actor should play you in a movie based on your life?*
Walter Brennan

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A tree climber

*What makes you feel great about yourself?*
My patience.
Learning to let it roll off my back, something I learned from observing water fowl.

*How did you meet your significant other?*
Same as last interview- I had selected an apartment that overlooked the pool allowing me to peek through the blinds to see when the watery tarts would congregate pool side. One day a nice flock arrived, I grabbed Steinbeck's "The Wayward Bus" headed down poolside and let the competition begin.

*What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)*
Wood and metal work-built some furniture, a wood and canvas canoe, fort in the woods, green house. Decent at watercolor, sketching, photography and writing Cold Ale Blokes Christmas plays.

*What is the one thing you must do before you die?*
Live in Chama New Mexico weaving ristras, selling watercolors, cacti and furniture.

*If you had to teach something, what would you teach?*
Patience.
Go watch ducks on the pond in the rain.

*Do you get tired living life?*
Not yet

*What one thing would you NEED to have on a deserted island if you didn't have to worry over food and water? *
Can't remember what I said last time...oh yeah...a HAM radio and some Bob Wills albums.

*What song is in your head at the moment?*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z--wy_cdwQ

*Which book are you reading at the moment?*
"The Travels of Marco Polo", "August 1914 - The Red Wheel", will soon start "Plutarch's Lives" - inspired by Prendrelemick

Which comedians or cabaret artists do you like?

Lili von Shtupp - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uai7M4RpoLU

*Favorite threads?*
Cold Ale Blokes and then several others.

*Favorite poem?*
Let’s go with Goldsmith's "The Deserted Village"

*First novel you remember reading on your own?*
Toilers of the Sea

*Favorite TV shows?*
Star Trek (TOS), Gunsmoke, Leave it to Beaver, King of the Hill, Mr. Ed

Too many to name and wouldn't want to forget someone.

*Are you a winter or summer?*
Winter

*Last words you said out loud?*
“Save some for me”

*Last person you hugged/kissed?*
Niece and nephew

*What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going? And are you happy with your chosen profession?*
Work in architecture. Current role is construction administrator

*What is your most outstanding feature?*
same as last time - my forehead. Wife calls it the "Hillary Step"

*What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?*
Rustling up some vittles for breakfast

*Describe your ideal day, please.*
same as last time - winter day, gray with light snow, smell of burning wood hangs in the air, go for morning walk in the woods. Back home feet propped up next to the fire with a book in hand.

*Favorite painting?*
So many...one that typically comes to mind is Vermeer’s “Girl With a Pearl Earring”

*Are you gellin'?*
Not recently. I had some Jello about three weeks ago.

*Something you want to forget but you never can?*
The death of my parents, a brother in law and last grandparent - all within a 4 year span before reaching the ripe age of 30.

*What is the wisest thing that has been said to you?*
Never discuss politics or religion in public - by mama Gurgle
Before she died she revised it by adding "sexual orientation" and removed the part about "in public"

What is the best thing that happened to you since your last birthday?
I discovered Fats Waller.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=in1eK3x1PBI

*If you could send one thing to the Room 101, one would that be?*
The cracker crumbs and pistachio shells the missus manages to disperse across the bed.

*Are you mostly happy with life or are you still in pursuit?*
Yes and yes

*How long did it take you to answer all of these questions?*
about an hour

*One final word of wisdom for LitNet users?*
Patience. Go watch some ducks on a pond in the rain.
