A box laid on the table by itself. It sat looking towards the big window in the hallway. The light peering through the stained glass gave it an almost hollow feel as if it was a haze, a reflection of something rather unfamiliar.
John left it there and forgot to hand it in to the supervisor of the building where he worked. He found it lying around the new playground which is being erected in memory of the late mayor.
It pertruded and its size was unordinary. It was left on a very old antique mahogany table which made it stand out like a sore thumb,exagerant and fake.
The element seemed out of grace upon a table that stood out rather pale beside it. The materials did not match and the arrangement of a modern industrialised object against aclassic art and craft felt disjointed and incorrect. The sight was a cry out for change.
The box was wrapped clumsily in scruffy papier mache and was ripped at the corners as if someone had it pushed hard against other objects of the same shape. Speaking of which its shape appeared colossal almost grotesque in the setting where it was left.
A handwritten note glistened, put on top of it, to remind John to hand it in as soons as possible. Its owner must be looking for it.
