I tried, but it didn't work. Therefore, I didn't try hard enough. I resorted to the wrong resources and then I backed off (typical of someone unaccustomed to engage in combat).

Hi Maximilianus sorry to hear about this.
Would you mind explaining briefly what it was that you tried or is that too much? If not not to worry.:)

I did and regretted it completely. It does not haunt me as much as it used to, but after I did what I did, I knew this quote (attributed to Confucius) was correct:
"Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves" (since what you do to exact revenge might hurt you just as much as it will hurt the person you're trying to hurt).

Umbreon sorry to hear it and the quote is quite telling indeed.
We all do things we do not mean but it is better done then not I guess otherwise it would have nagged at you.
So long it is not putting anyone in danger then what is done is done we learn from it and move on.
As they say better let it out of your system.
The next around the same thing will not happen again.
Back to the quote however I feel it is over sighted and so my take on it is this:
''Do not embark in any things you might live to regret. Save yourself energy go eco, found a room and take a chill pill.
This would save you from digging yourself into a hole bigger then the two graves put together''

Have you? You're supposed to give your thoughts on the subject on your OP, not just ask a question (though you'll never stop doing this).

No. I did experience a bad case of jealousy once which ate me up inside as I battled not to ill wish the person in light of my own desires but it did give me some insight to how people could be driven out of control in order to get what they want. But that's a different thread for you to create Cacian....

Ah Jealousy. I thought I would eventually find the link. Jealousy and revenge they sit together on a slow burning fire waiting to erupt like vesivius.
Start a thread about that? but this is the thread about it. :)
Would you even think about that? It is just a forum. But I may understand frustration. I was upset for a day when my thread was closed.
To be honest, I have been laughing today. I was watching what was going on, expecting the same outcome as on my thread. But I can’t get upset about threads being closed or posts deleted....…….It is a modus operandi.
Don't forget that what goes around, comes around.
Hi ftil that is a nice avatar picture.
which painting is that?

Have I? No. I don't take anything out on anyone but if I have to I will do it with words.

I'm not very good at taking vengeance - I have to get very, very angry (which is an extremely rare occurence), and then I usually I feel far worse about the action than the recipient of my vengenace does. For me, it's just a self-destructive action. I find it very hard to be mad at people, even if they've caused me a lot of hassle.

I haven't taken revenge on somebody since I was a little kid. I'm a very difficult person to make angry, but when I do I get very angry. But normally I don't take revenge, I just confront the person who has made me angry.

The whole point of childhood is that one is 'foolish' immature and above all free from all constraint. It would not be childhood otherwise althoug I do not know the word 'hood' is constantly in words.
