besides your ideal man/woman?

What components would make for the ideal story?

One thing I can make for right now is that my ideal story has to have a dash of destinial talent and humour.

For me an ideal story must have:

A good narrative, with the beginning. middle, and end clearly thought out.

Characters that resemble in someway people encountered in life

And depict events that can be related to reality.

My ideal story would illustrate some kind of eternal idea e.g revenge, desire, despair.

I am less interested in stories intended as a vehicle to evoke a historical period, make a political point etc. I still read those books, but they are not amongst my favourites. I would rather read non-fiction to educate myself.
