View Full Version : Double Dare Thursday -- A Few Cinquains and a Haiku

Last year the cinquain chain and haiku threads were fairly busy, and I ended up contributing a few that I still like.

Break up
Was half, now whole
Less can be more, you know
But empty can be heavier
than full

Then cry
Rage at the gods
Complain to the people
And when nothing at all happens
Then do

Ruthless
What is the point?
A life of ruthlessness
Seems empty and bleak. I miss my
wife Ruth

Fold two
Napkins, set two
Places, light a candle
Sit, eat, talk to the empty chair
Across

The dark
Is natural
Some say that means correct
But there is more of value in
The light

And long
May be the road
And tired may be the legs
But the journey is better made
Than not

Fully coated lies
Carefully formed and shaped to fit
Gently dipped in truth

They are all really good but this one, in particular, is a very strong piece.
