That half eaten jar of chutney

at the Chilli Festival
wasn't as spicy as you would like
Giving me something that has passed
its use by date
won't renew our relationship
handling a glass jar that has been
thrust back to the furry parts of your fridge
won't thaw my heart
Even if I have discovered
your feelings for me rate higher
than your maggot infested bin
What is between us cannot be cleansed
